Sauk Valley Awaken: Calling out to God for our Community

The Lord asked His disciples in Matthew 26:40 “And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping.  And he said to Peter, “So, could you not watch with me one hour?”

Can you not hear the same call of God today?  Let us awaken to prayer in this area as we come together in unity of Spirit for an hour of prayer each month at various church locations.

Anti-Harassment And Discrimination In The Workplace Training

Sexual Harassment and Discrimination in the Workplace In recent months, we have seen many high-profile examples and media attention on the topic of sexual harassment. Anything from news about workplace harassment, to Hollywood allegations, to the “#MeToo” movement on social media. As leaders in the workplace, it is our responsibility to protect our employees from such potential misconduct within our businesses and we are required by law to create a safe environment for every employee. Taking a proactive approach is your best defense in the event of a sexual harassment, and all other harassment claims. Course Description: Information presented will enable employees and employers to recognize and avoid sexual harassment situations in the workplace. They will learn their responsibilities as an accused or complainant person, the procedures to follow if sexual harassment or discrimination occurs, and what actions to expect from the employer. At the end of this course you will be able to: • Define what constitutes sexual harassment, harassment and discrimination. • Identify inappropriate conduct in the workplace. • Identify abusive conduct and workplace bullying. • Review discrimination and harassment laws. • Define protected class and the EEOC. • Explain how to report circumstances of sexual harassment or a hostile work environment. • Describe their responsibilities as an accused or complainant person. • How to communicate with the employees. Spring Volunteer Training

Become a Hospice Volunteer. There’s no time like the present to add life to each day of a hospice patient. Volunteers provide companionship and support to the terminally ill and their loved ones. They fill a unique role in providing comfort and support to patients and families by giving their time, energy and compassion. Rock River Hospice & Home has a need for volunteers to work with patients and families. A training session will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Rock River Hospice & Home, 2706 Avenue E, Sterling, IL. Preschool through 8th grade can participate in the parade.  Prizes and ribbons will be awarded for several categories for best costumes.  9:30AM Parade Assembly, 9:50AM judging concludes, 10:00AM parade begins. 

Lee County Council on Aging:  Come to the Post House Community Center located beneath the Post House Ballroom from 8:00AM - 9:30AM.  Eat with costumed characters before heading to the parade.  Pancakes and Sausage Breakfast:  $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for kids 11 & under. Fall Bazaar - Ashton United Methodist Church
