Pastor David Schweppe

Pastor David Schweppe received a Bachelor of Arts in Geology in 1984 and a Masters of Divinity from Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago IL in 1989. His first call was to South Dakota and from there he served in several capacities in Illinois as Pastor, Health Educator and Mediator,  Pulpit Supply Pastor, Adjunct Professor of Ethics and Intentional Interim Pastor here at Immanuel Lutheran Church until his installation on June 24, 2018. He is a public speaker, professional writer, trained mediator and accomplished pianist. He is an advocate for Voices Against Violence Coalition, LOMC’s Family Camp for Autism Spectrum Families, Habitat for Humanity, Big Brother and Big Sister, and many others.

He is married to wife Lynne and they have two sons and a daughter. Currently, they enjoy two grandchildren with another expected soon.

SamanthA Long

Parish Office bookkeeper:

Samantha Long started with Immanuel Lutheran Church, June 15, 2018.  She brings with her 15 years of experience as Business Administrator at Shiloh Baptist Church in Plant City, FL.  Samantha has been married to Joel Long for 26 years and has 5 amazing boys and 2 fur babies (Goldendoodles).  She moved to Illinois from Florida 4 years ago and loves the area and especially the seasons.


King of the Councel A.K.A.

David Lutyens

David was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran in Rock Falls. He married Donna Elsesser at St. John’s Lutheran in Sterling in 1958. They were married over 57 years when she passed away in 2016. They moved to Dixon in 1958 and started attending Immanuel in the early 1960’s when Paul Lechner was Pastor and the church was on Highland Avenue. Their children Erik and Jennifer were both baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dixon. He currently enjoys three granddaughters and three grandsons. David worked as a highway engineer and is still active part time.

David previously served on the church council in the late 1980’s, sang briefly in the choir, taught sixth grade Sunday School, and was part of the Bethel Bible series including teaching the course. David says “My time at Immanuel has been rewarding and I feel a comfort in being a part of the Immanuel family.”
